Emergency Department
The Emergency Department in Peel Health Campus is a specialist led Emergency Department. The aims and objectives of the department are in keeping with those of the campus as a whole:
Our mission: To position the Peel Health Campus Emergency Department at the forefront of the regional health care sector.
Our vision: To make a difference in health care by responding to the needs of our patients and striving to exceed their expectations.
Standards
The standards within the Emergency Department in Peel Health Campus are governed and guided by various boards and committees, including but not exclusive to:
The Health Department of Western Australia including the Private Hospital Licensing section;
The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS);
The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine; and
EEO, Disability Services, OSH Act, Public Service Standards, Mental Health, Hospital and Health Services Acts.
Challenges for the Future
The Emergency Department in Peel Health Campus shall continue to lead the way for regional Australia in emergency medicine care.
To this end, we aim to:
Increase our specialist staff base.
Reduce our reliance on locum medical staff by improving our recruitment and retention rates for salaried medical staff.
Continue to encourage our medical and nursing staff to avail themselves of our staff development team and also of outside courses relevant to Emergency Medicine.
Maximise our revenue raising by increasing our efficiency in capturing those patients from whom revenue can be raised - eg patients who are insured following a motor vehicle accident or workers compensation cases.
Thus we shall subscribe to the Peel Health Campus' motto of "Heading forward in Health".
